[SciPy-User] How do I cite SciPy and NumPy, when I used them for a paper?

This citation guide should perhaps be also amended to say that if a
specific algorithm is of importance for your work, it may be good
practice to cite the original papers introducing it. Appropriate
references are often given in Scipy documentation for each method.
