Personally I prefer to not install another GCC, it case it renders Xcode and system libraries fubar.

Thus I rather pay for Intel compilers and SciPy from Enthought or Anaconda. A Mac will be more expensive than a Linux or Wintendo computer anyway. I just consider this a part of the additional expense. :-)

I am sure there are some who will disagree.  :-)
