[SciPy-user] does(can? should?) scipy still use fftw

Reading the posts here, I'm gathering there have been some changes in  
how the fft is implemented in scipy.  Just to clarify:

Can scipy use fftw?

If so, is there any advantage, performance or otherwise, to linking  
scipy to fftw?
