Currently [1], 2008-08 is the targeted release for 3.0.  As there will
be developer releases, is scipy planning to have separate a branch
dedicated to moving to 3.0?  It seems that a transition can begin now,
rather than after 3.0 is released, and the ideal situation (in
dreamland) would be that scipy was near ready by the time 3.0 is
released.  Also, what is the overall plan with respect to 2.6 and 3.0?
 Will scipy be maintaining two branches, or will it be demanded that
people upgrade to 3.0 when scipy upgrades to 3.0?
