I'm searching ukrainian foundations to obtain some money support for
openopt development, and they want to know how much spreadered is that
free software product that applier proposes to develop (I intend to
contact them as one of scipy/scikits developers to enhance scikits
optimization module). It's impossible to obtain number of downloads,
because lots of users use getting from svn, and they will not waste
their time to find and contact to someone w.r.t. the numbers, moreover,
they couldn't trust the answer. But the number of page visiting per day
may say something to them.

Ok, then it's scipy owner(s) decision - implement the button or not and
howto spend money. But I think that scipy is much more spreadered than a
common scientific project, and maybe money would be helpful to enhance
the one and keep it up-to-date vs MATLAB and/or other concurrents. In
anyway, the button could be removed in any time.
