That is probably true.  I remember that the changes Pearu added based on
another user's Sun setup broke the Sun compiler on Duke's machines.  I
never looked into it very far, but I bet that Duke had an older
compiler. 

Please re-factor/re-organize the code to what you believe is the minimal
setup necessary for the Forte compiler on heatmizer.
