Checkout (http://www.checkoutapp.com/) is a commercial application written in Python using PyObjC.

+1 there.  If you already know Python and C it should be easy to learn Objective-C, the hard part is learning about the Cocoa libraries and there a book like the Hillegass one can be very helpfull.
