Is space at a premium on your machine? If not, what's the harm in having 
the PPC bits there?

In many situations, building universal binaries is difficult. By 
contract, Universal MacPython has made this process so seamless and 
transparent that it's hard to *not* build extensions as universal 
binaries. I wish all my development tools made my work this easy!
