Well Apple has defined what they want to be defined right now, and  
they expect most other attributes to be application-specific.  The  
same situation is out there for UTIs.

If you felt strongly about the need for an obvious way for everyone  
to name things then you could pretty easily make it known to the  
development community.  If a couple people pick it up, you'd probably  
have a de facto standard pretty quickly.
