Dear Mac-Pythoneers,

Recently we created a Mac OS X native (Quartz) version of Pygist, a scientific
plotting package for Python. The source code is available at
http://bonsai.ims.u-tokyo.ac.jp/~mdehoon/software/python/index.html under
"Scientific plotting with Pygist" on the left. See the instructions there for
how to install this on Mac OS X using a framework version of Python.

Note the setup.py script of Pygist can serve as an example of how to compile
Python C extensions that use the Cocoa or Carbon frameworks, and how to use
"python setup.py config" as a replacement of autoconf/automake to get some
system information.
