[Pythonmac-SIG] attempting a framework install... and failing... horribly.

I followed most of the directions I could understand and I even went so far as to delete all previous versions of python from my computer apple's and fink's.. I looked for .profile and a .login, but couldn't find them to clear references to /sw as per the  build instructions.

Here it looks like I just don't have permissions to build this thing, but I have an admin account and the directions said not to install with sudo so here I suppose the mystery continues.


Then after deleting all copies of Python from my mac and running configure, make, make frameworkinstall, and getting errors saying my build failed, I type python in the terminal and get of all things python2.2 which I though I had removed!

I'm really confused!  If any of you kind a wonderful people out there could fill me in on whatever it is I'm missing or doing wrong, please let me know...
