Larry...you aren't being picked on...you just happened to give me a message
to which to reply as follows (others to which I should have replied are in
the trash, and I'm lazy).

Before we get too optimistic about what Apple might do in the way of
including what we want as the Python installation, keep in mind we're
talking about the same Apple whose QuickTime 6.0.2 installer is broken on
machines whose owners have replaced the supplied Perl 5.6.0 with the newer
Perl 5.8.  (Reference http://www.macfixit.com for October 24.)

Why does that break the installer?  Seemingly because Apple used EQ and NE
rather than eq and ne in the preflight script (which is Perl).  Perl 5.6 is
happy with those bogus operators...5.8 is not.

Not to mention the same Apple which has shipped installers with unquoted
path names which--given unhappy accidents of volume naming--resulted in the
installer wiping out volume contents.  (I suspect that intern is gone.  -;))
