It's basically the whole QuickTime API exported to C, with a little
object-oriented sauce over it. The mapping is so close that reading Inside
Mac: Quicktime should get you up and running.
By the way: Erik: do I read in your "low-level" comment that you have ideas
for a higher-level interface?
