[PYTHONMAC-SIG] Network/System admin on Mac using Python

Has anyone done any system admin scripts using Python?  I'm looking for 
scripts that would aid in maintaining a group of Macs in a student lab, 
i.e:
Software distribution/updates
Cleaning out student folders
Checking versions on software
