Right now I can execute a script from a top level directory (/foo) but not from /my documents. What kind of user interfaces work with PythonCE (Can it use the TclTk port to WinCE)? What kinds of apps have people created with PythonCE? Is there a source/website for PythonCE scripts that others have written? Thanks. Jeff - Here it is: www.rainer-keuchel.de/wince/dirlist.html I had to rename a couple of subdirectories (tcl to tcl84d, tk to tk84d) and make all the registry entries manually, but it works. Another note is that you need to copy celib.dll to the \windows directory, but do not use to most recent version - use the one that comes with the tcltk package. I don't know how hard it would be to use the tk libraries with Python-CE but it would be great. It's a bit of a steep mountain to climb when you use it the first time, but it creates a nice standalone .exe that includes everything people need to run your app. And it starts up quite a bit faster too. -- - Jack Jansen http://www.cwi.nl/~jack - - If I can't dance I don't want to be part of your revolution -- Emma Goldman - From jim@burtcom.com Mon Mar 18 15:01:39 2002 From: jim@burtcom.com (Jim Burton) Date: Mon, 18 Mar 2002 08:01:39 -0700 Subject: [PythonCE] PythonCE for HPC 2000? If I port that module to a StrongARM-processor based iPAQ, should I expect it to be able to run? Or were you suggesting compiling the C module that comes from Freeze in the PPC development environment? In order to do so I would have to setup the PPC development envt. As you commented, that would be a steep mountain to climb, starting from the flat plain of a purely Python-based developer, no C, no PPC dev envt. ============= Date: Mon, 18 Mar 2002 13:32:56 +0100 Subject: Re: [PythonCE] self-installing executable for PocketPC? My company is on the verge of buying Casio EG-800's for our delivery drivers. We'll be buying wireless CDPD backpacks along with them. It's my job to develop the software. Now, I know python, wxWindows, and pyODBC really well, and if these little things were laptops, I'm pretty confident that I could do everything in python. Because it's CE though, and wxWindows is apparently not ported over, does anyone know if pythonce is even a feasible option? I love for it to be, because the development time would be shortened considerably. In any event... here's what I'll eventually be doing... The CE units will communicate wirelessly with the servers in-house and upload data. I'd really love it if I could write directly to the SQL servers in-house. The application on the units needs to allow input (by an on-screen 10-key preferably) and also capture signatures. If some of you genii would be so kind as to give me advice on what my options are, I'd greatly appreciate it.
