tested it with

XEmacs 21.5  (beta28) "fuki" (+CVS-20070806) [Lucid] (i386-suse-linux, Mule) of Thu Jan 24 2008 on molitor

Emacs -q, and

GNU Emacs 23.1.50.1 (i686-pc-linux-gnu, GTK+ Version 2.12.0) of 2009-07-25

Works for me.
