Where are the moderators?

You seem to be using the Google Groups interface. The moderators can't
control what appears on that list, and it is as you say essentially
unusable (IMO) because of spam. For a reasonably spam-free experience,
I suggest subscribing to the mailing list itself (the web page to do
that is attached to mails posted here -
https://mail.python.org/mailman/listinfo/python-list)
