Nested for loops and print statements

Key questions that Python gurus are having a hard time answering!
Equally confusing, you might run into this phantom phenomenon:

   >>> if True:
   ...    a = 3
     File "<stdin>", line 2
         a = 3
       ^
   SyntaxError: invalid character in identifier


It might be useful to have a mode that echoes each input line as seen by
Python (repr).
