kivy: python on android

Following some posts here I thought I'd try python on android via kivy.

Followed the tutorials -- involved a couple of GBs(!!) of downloads
using something called buildozer

Finally got a hello world running on a phone -- Yay!

Now when I try to go from hello world to something a more (kivy-examples run
nicely on ubuntu), buildozer starts downloading those GBs again!!

Does anyone have a clue on where I am clueless?
