The books are still relavant, but you're welcome to try Google.
There's lxml and pyparsing, the latter of which has a digital booklet
by the author. There are also lots of tutorials online for the stdlib
way of doing things, which is typically using minidom. Here are a
couple of links to the 3rd party packages:
