Error calling module

When I try to call gtk like so:


import gtk

I get the error:

ImportError: No module named gtk


I installed a new Python and a new pygtk.
Is the gtk module not a part of pygtk???

I have PYTHONPATH=/usr/local/lib/python2.5/site-packages
set. So what am I doing wrong?
