string splitting

Hi,

Try splitting the string on "." and using rfind to find the last
instance of "_".

i.e.,
myStr = "wisconsin_state.txt"
pieces = myStr.split(".")
substr = pieces[0][pieces[0].rfind("_") + 1:]
