python vs perl lines of code

Maybe somebody would change his style
and had a lot of such statements before:

   if ( something )
  {
   do_something()
  }

which can be expressed in one
line:

  do_something() if ( /something/ );

This has a 1:4 line count then.

Or, somebody used identifier like:

   sub GetTheseSamplesHereOut {
    ...
    ...
   }

and later:
   sub SampleExtract {
    ...
    ...
   }

and saved ~40% characters.
