String negative indices?

Ah, of course.  I knew this, I just misinterpreted your "distinct, 
different, zeroes" as referring to the elements but not the matrices. 
Just a misunderstanding.

Every zero matrix is an additive identity, and there are an infinite 
number of them.  That's certainly true.
