Interesting. The opimisation makes no difference to the speed of the C++ one
for me. I just get

xpc17:~> g++4 -O2 test2.cpp
xpc17:~> ./a.out

(This is with an Althon 64 4600+ running Linux).

Unfortunately the Python on this computer doesn't have set as it is too old,
so I can't compare it.
