Python variables are bound to types when used?

Wrong?  No.  Bad idea?  Possibly, depending on context.  I'm often using
"variable" in casual conversation -- it's hard to break the habit of
thirty years of programming!  But I try very hard to stick with "name"
when I'm doing formal instruction.
