How to compress a folder and all of its sub directories and filesinto a zip file?

This is embarrassing :-[

I felt quite certain that I'd correctly typed 'import zlib' and 
received an import error. I'm going to have to plead a bad case of 3am 
goggles.

Off to retract a spurious bug I filed ...
