Detect Blank DVD or CD in CDROM Drive

Hi guys,

I'm thinking it will take a real expert to do this, probably someone who can
use windows API's or directly poll the hardware or some such thing.  But if
you think you know how then please let me know.  I'm trying to write an
automation script that will burn an ISO file each night.

By the way, I tried this recipe but it doesn't seem to work for blank media:
