I use SVN which is excellent (http://subversion.tigris.org/), on a 
windows box as a client I use TortoiseSVN which is also excellent.  I 
have the server running in Apache.

To work in SVN with eclipse you will need an eclipse plugin : 
http://subclipse.tigris.org/#subclipse
