start python web programming

I should implement a simple http/database page, based on python. I read some 
texts and it´s strange how python deal with html output. It´s something like 
Servlet... is there any diferent way to do that? Something like just 
bussiness code, applied in an MVC framework, or just like it. Thanks and 
sorry about my english.
