Asyncore Statemachine

Hello all,
    I'm using a mutex in the midst of a asyncore dispatcher.  I want to
make sure that all the exit states from this statemachine are being
properly covered so that I release my mutex.  Does anyone know of a
description of the finite statemachine used in asyncore?
