If Googling for "smtp auth" didn't help you, try adding "rfc" and
you should get where you need to be to learn more.

(Unless you are asking "how is this done in Python", in which
case the answer is either "it isn't" (if it isn't), or "use
the source" (if it is).  ;-) )
