I'm flattered, but I suggest you avoid using Threads and instead consider
what serveral others have already mentioned: Twisted.

If my memory serves me right (IMMSMR?), a user on the Twisted Python
mailing list posted not too long ago (today?) about coding an RSS
aggregator using Twisted. Hey, that user was you! :-)
