file/directory owner

hi!

i have some cgi scripts that create directories and subdirectories and so on.
the level of nesting is not known before hand
whats happening now is that these files and directories (which get created on my account) have owner 'nobody'. And i am no longer able to modify these files and directories myself. i can't even do a chmod on them. 
how do i change this? i want the owner to be me.
