distutils frustration

 hello everyone,

 i've been trying to write a distutils setup.py to compile and install
 getdate module by Jeff MacDonald. unfortunately, it seems that
 distutils doesn't support either bison or running a custom Makefile.
 moreover and most importantly it doesn't look like it's easy to add a
 support for files with the '.y' extension.

 please, prove me i'm wrong (i'd be happy to) :)
