I'm still hoping for an explanation on the practical relevance of that 
black hole device.
I don't insist that the black hole function as given does anything 
useful; if the black-hole function was just a condensed example of a 
general usage pattern, I'd like to know what that pattern is. It would 
help me to find out where in the expressivity spectrum the various 
languages lie.
