I mostly work under Win, but as far as I know, there is a version for 
Linux too. BTW, if you are under Linux you might use Emacs and Vi for 
such kind of tasks---if I understand posts correctly, a lot of Python 
gurus works in the following way:

1. Start your editor of choice.
2. Type something.
3. Execute it from the editor.
4. Type more, etc...
