Title: wxPython GUI Developer
Reports to: Lead Developer

Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced and highly talented Python/wxPython
developer to implement the point of sale user interface for a box 
office management system. The application to be developed will:
- Use a touch-screen interface
- Interface with various hardware including card reader, barcode 
  scanner, serial pole display, electronic scale, and ticket printer
- Communicate with an application server via XML over HTTP

We are particularly interested in candidates who have previously 
developed POS software, or who have delivered commercial software
using Python/wxPython. The ideal candidate will also have knowledge 
and experience with web development and/or MS SQL Server, and will be 
able to assist in the development of other components including the 
application server and web-based back office interface. The ideal
candidate will also have an interest in the cinema, especially 
independent film. 

Education: BA/BS in Computer Science, Mathematics, or other 
engineering discipline

Required skills:
    - Solid experience (2+ years) developing in Python, including 2.2+
    - Demonstrated ability to create signficant GUI applications 
      using wxPython
    - Object oriented design and programming    
    - XML technologies including DOM, SAX, XPath, and XSL
    - Strong analytical skills and computer science theory (CS degree
      preferred)
    - Networking technologies including HTTP and TCP/IP
    - Knowledge of Win32 API and COM
    - Experience interfacing with serial hardware devices    
    - Experience using revision control systems (preferably Visual
      Sourcesafe)

Desired skills:
    - Experience developing point of sale (POS) applications
    - Knowledge and experience with CGI, ASP, or other web 
      development technologies.    
    - Knowledge and experience with MS SQL Server and general 
      transaction processing theory
    - Knowledge and experience in other languages such as Visual 
      Basic, C, C++, Java
    - Experience using and programming on Linux
    - Experience with XP software development methodology
    
Terms: Contract to permanent. Rate negotiable.
