Is Python overhyped (just like Java)?

"Just like Java"?

The budget for Sun's orignal "Write Once, Run Anywhere" campaign is
estimated to be between $60 and $90 million. Sun must have spent several
times as much on promotion since 1995.

That kind of money buys a whole lot of hype.

Python never had a mutimillion dollar promotion campaign. People 'hyping'
Python are doing it simply because they feel excited about finding a great
language and a wonderful community that they feel the urge to share it
with others. They don't have a specific product to sell and they are not
just repeating the advertising drilled into their heads.

Is Python better than language X for doing Y? You be the judge.

Is Python a language that people tend to get excited about? Definitely.
