Alternatives to Python ?

you could try downloading the book from
http://www.info.ucl.ac.be/~pvr/ - it tries (successfully!) to
introduce different approaches to programming through subsets of the
oz/mozart language (so you get the equivalent of several languages in
your one book).  alternatively, wait til it's published by mit (soon,
i believe), and then buy it (cheaper than printing it out, i suspect,
as it's a big book).

note that the download will go when the book comes out.
