Amen, hallelujah.  Sullivan *hated* writing operetta music, by all
accounts -- it was just something he HAD to do, to keep bread (and
caviar -- he had expensive tastes;-) on the table; what he LOVED
was writing pompous, "noble" music which (fortunately) nobody but
scholars remember any more -- while the Mikado, e.g., is immortal.

There's definitely a _correlation_ between loving something and being
good at it, but outliers on both sides of the "main sequence" are
just too frequent and obvious in both history and everyday life to
ignore them.
