The "general principle" is that anything *you* use frequently is
perfectly
normal, regardless of how it looks to anyone else. Anything you don't
use frequently, is abnormal, bad, the work of Satan or whatever,
again regardless of whether anyone else finds it useful or whether
it serves a useful, possibly absolutely necessary purpose.
