When reading nothing but PEP-308 threads all day long, reason starts
to become a vague memory.

I just thought it was a cute trick to be able to remove the 'else y'
clause without rewriting the rest of the expression. In the cold light
of morning, I'm not so sure how useful the trick actuall is.
