sed with python

How do I use python as a wrapper for sed and/or gawk scripts? I have
been using bash for my stuff, which relates mostly to lilypond, and I
wouldn't mind if windows users could find it more accessible.
I have written one very simple python
script and that's all. O'Reilly's python books don't mention sed or
gawk. Thanks in advance. DaveA

Can both be true? n Are both false? y Right answers get my vote.
