Python Source Code Documentation

Hi. I'm interested in trying to get an understanding of Python's source
code. I'd like to understand how it works. I was wondering if there exists a
set of documents or guidelines I could read, alongside the source, that
would outline what each file in the cvs is, what it does, how it fits into
the overall design: sort of like a thread through the maze. Where to begin,
what's important, how things tie together. That sort of thing.
