List slicing

Hi guys,

is there a slicing operation on nested lists ?
i.e.
 list=[[1,2,3],[1,2,3],[1,2,3]]

the result of the operation should give [1,1,1] (or [2,2,2] :-))
This certainly assumes that the sublists are all the same size.
I can do it manually for sure - I was just curious if there is something
"built in" to do this.
