turtle.write dies on MacPython2.2.1

Hello pythoneers,

    I have noticed that, when you run MacPython2.2.1 on an iBook Macintosh,
booted in the Classic
(MacOS 9) mode, the turtle.write function wedges rather horribly.
    After that, it is impossible to get out of the interactive Python
environment (other than force-quitting).
When run under the standalone interpreter, it just dies.

    I noticed that when trying the turtle.demo() function.

    I have done some web searches, but I couldn't find info on the subject.
Any suggestions?
