Compiling python 2.2.2 with gcc 3.2

I tried to compile python2.2.2 under RH 7.2 with gcc 3.2. I got weired 
error messages from
incopatibility between "fpos_t" and "int", to obsoleteness of "tmpname".

Did anyone succeed?
