Install question

Hello,

I've been trying to install a package (Numeric Python), but when I go to 
build it (on Red Linux 7.3 system), I get an error telling me that it 
cannot find /usr/lib/python2.2/config/Makefile. My python2 installation 
was done directly from RPMS available on the python.org site. Can anyone 
tell me what this config/Makefile stuff is about, and what I can do to 
fix the problem?
