Why is Python popular, while Lisp and Scheme aren't?

Omigod! First of all, re situations C knows about, CL does just as well. 
Remember, the 20% slower is /on average/. I am sure you know that CL 
like Python is dynamic. Getting that stuff to run almost as fast as C 
suggests CL compiler technology is superb.
